Monday Crime Report

Theft

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to investigate a theft at the Long Branch Road home of John Markus Friday. Markus reported a man had stopped by his shop to inquire about scrap metal and a bull dozer, but that he had informed him that nothing on the property was for sale. The man left, however shortly afterward Markus’ son saw the man had backed his truck up to the shop and was loading items into the bed. He had the man unload the items and leave the property. The man is described as a white male in his 50s. He was wearing no shirt and had a visible scar on his abdomen. Anyone who has information regarding the incident should contact the department at 762-3626.

Theft

Deputies were summoned to a Tennessee Street, West Point home Saturday where the resident reported someone had stolen 60 feet of copper wire from a utility pole and ammeter from her residence. The culprit put caused a hole in the underpinning while committing the crime. Loss to the victim and Lawrenceburg Utility Systems is around $840.

Recovered property

Deputies met a resident at New Prospect Fire Department Saturday morning after the man found a wallet discarded along Highway 43 east. The walled belonged to a Pulaski Highway resident. When returned, she told deputies everything except her debit card appeared to be inside.
