Authorities Probe Unusual Horse Death
Law enforcement officials were called upon Tuesday to initiate an investigation into an unusual death of a horse.
Deputies were dispatched to property situated at the dead end area of Courtney/Zeis Lanes Tuesday where they found that one of four horses on the property had died.
The owner reported to deputies that she had fed all four the previous evening and all appeared to be fine. When she returned around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, however, she found that one was dead. The owner indicated that she had owned the three-year-old horse for only around two weeks.
Deputies noted in their report that blood was found around the horse’s nose. In addition, they report finding a broken concrete block lying around twenty-five feet from the carcass. An inspection of the barn revealed that several boards had been knocked loose in one stall.
The matter remains under investigation at the present time by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information regarding the case is encouraged to contact the department at 72-3626.
