Giles County Sheriff's Office are warning that the scammers are back at it again. (We are starting to think they don’t take days off.)

We have received multiple reports of phone calls claiming there are fake arrest warrants out of the U.S. District Court. The callers are telling residents they can either turn themselves in at the Sheriff’s Office or conveniently wire over a large sum of money to “take care of it.”

These scammers are even sending documents that look official, complete with seals and formal language. While they may look legitimate, they are NOT legitimate and are designed to intimidate and deceive people. (Read the caption on the Non Disclosure Agreement)

Nice try scammers, but that is not how any of this works. Here’s the truth:

• Law enforcement will NEVER call, text, or email you demanding money to avoid arrest.
• You will NOT be asked to pay fines with gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency. (If someone says “go buy gift cards,” that’s your sign to hang up immediately.)
• Real court documents are served through proper legal channels, not surprise phone calls asking for money.

If you receive one of these calls, do not panic, do not pay, and do not give out personal information.

When in doubt, give us a call at 931-363-3505 and we’ll help you sort it out. We promise, no gift cards or cryptocurrency will be required to call us for help.
