Arrestee Charged With Trying To Bring Drugs Into Jail
A Leoma woman arrested during the weekend garnered additional charges when it was discovered she was attempting to bring drugs into the jail.
According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, Heather Frances Atchinson, 25, of 112 Rabbit Trail Road was brought into the Lawrence County Detention Center for booking around 8:30 p.m. A corrections officer reports “it looked like she was trying to hide something inside her when she was brought in.”
As a result, a female corrections officer conducted a strip search. During the search it was found that she was concealing a pill bottle in her vaginal cavity. The bottle was said to contain thirty-three Xanax, one Morphine, and one Lortab pill. In addition, reports show that three more Xanax tablets were found in her clothing.
As a result Atchinson was booked under charges that include possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of Schedule III narcotics, possession of Schedule IV narcotics for the purpose of resale, and introduction of drugs into a penal facility.
Atchinson will answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 2, 2011.
