Bids To Be Sought For Lawrenceburg Industrial Park Road Project

More than two years after grant funds were awarded for the project, the City of Lawrenceburg is ready to seek bids for roadway improvements inside Lawrenceburg Industrial Park.
Members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council approved a resolution Thursday to request bids for work planned along Helton Drive and Remke Avenue.
In October of 2011 the city was awarded $500,000 in funds from an Appalachian Regional Commission Grant, designed to provide assistance for distressed counties.
The funds were earmarked for road improvements so as to better accommodate tractor trailer truck traffic inside the industrial park. Leaders plan to widen and resurface nearly 5,000 linear feet of roadway.

Project Director Joe Baxter told council members that several issues have delayed the project. He said that once it is properly advertised, they plan to accept bids until May 20. Construction is tentatively scheduled to get underway in September or October.

Under the grant conditions the city will be responsible for covering the remaining $125,000 of the $625,000 project.
