Warrant Served Following Foot Chase
Law enforcement officers attempting to serve a warrant on a local man Wednesday evening were forced to chase the subject on foot before he was apprehended.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies made their way to the 325 Lincoln Street, Ethridge home of Bobby R. Smith (Lovell), age 27, shortly after 6:00 p.m.
Deputies were attempting to serve a warrant issued through Lawrence County Circuit Court, charging Smith with violation of probation. When they approached Smith, however, deputies report he fled.
Smith lead deputies and one member of the Ethridge Police Department on a twenty-one minute chase. He led officers east from his home, across U.S. Highway 43, into a field, then into a wooded area.
After a time those involved were able to apprehend Smith. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await legal proceedings.
