LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN — A powerful wind storm swept across Lawrence County Thursday evening, downing numerous trees and power lines and causing structural damage in northern and east central parts of the county. The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 5:11 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, and high winds began moving through the region shortly thereafter. One of the most significant reports of storm damage came from the Thousand Hills Cowboy Church, where a portion of the roof was blown off by the intense winds.

Lawrence County Fire and Rescue units, and the Lawrenceburg Fire Department along with crews from the Lawrenceburg Utility System (LUS), responded to numerous calls regarding downed trees and power lines throughout the county. Personnel from TDOT and Lawrence County Highway also assisted with clean up. At the height of the outage, more than 450 LUS customers were without electricity as crews worked to restore service.
