Mock Crash Event at Loretto High School

For the Loretto community, on Wednesday, April 9th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Collier Street will be closed for a Mock Crash Event that will be presented to Loretto High School students.

Different departments such as the TN Highway Patrol, Lawrence County Ambulance Services, Air Evac, Loretto Police Department, Saint Jospeh Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, Loretto Fire Department, and Giles County EMS will be on scene for the event. The event will be on the gravel parking lot located at the corner of Collier Street and Riddle Lane.

This will allow students to witness a crash with emergency personnel responding to the crash. Students will be participating and pretending to be injured and or deceased for the purpose of the mock crash and to have a real-life situation demonstrated to students.

The mock crash event will allow students to witness a real-life scenario and to show consequences of actions such as drunk driving, distracted driving, driving at a high speed, etc. Students will have the option to attend the event or to stay in the library while the event takes place.

The administration understands this may be a difficult or emotional for some students to witness and counselors will be available to speak with. This is to show students the importance of safe driving. Please remember the road will be blocked during the time of event and other routes will need to be taken.
