The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office was dispatched regarding a welfare check after a subject was discovered unresponsive behind the wheel.

 

 

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office responded on Monday in reference to a welfare check in the area of Dry Weakley Road in Ethridge where reports indicated that a male subject was unresponsive behind the wheel of a GMC Envoy.

The responding Deputy arrived to find Nathan Cox passed out inside the vehicle where after multiple attempts the Deputy was finally able to wake the man who was severely disoriented, and unable to speak clearly.

Cox appeared to be under the influence of a substance where during the investigation he continued to fall in and out of consciousness where the Deputy noticed an unopened beer inside the vehicle, and once a search was conducted a syringe containing a clear liquid believed to be Methamphetamine was discovered as well as a plastic bag containing multiple pills that were discovered to be Morphine and Oxycodone.

Cox was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail where he will face possession charges for Methamphetamine, Morphine, Oxycodone as well as charges for public intoxication.
