Meth Lab Component Found On Edge Of Roadway
Local authorities called for cleanup and disposal of a component of a methamphetamine lab last week, after it was discarded on the edge of a Summertown roadway.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report the item was located on the edge of North Brace Road. The item, a bottle with tubing attached, reportedly contained a chemical mixture that had leaked onto the roadway.
Authorities confirmed that the object was a homemade gas generator, used in the manufacture of meth. There appeared to be no clue, however, as to the identity of the person who had discarded the device.
Deputies made contact with the county’s contracted HazMat cleanup team and the proper cleanup and disposal measures were initiated.
