Help Us Build Strong Readers!
The Lawrenceburg Police Department is proud to partner with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Literacy Program this April as an official drop-off location for new and gently used books for children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
Why K–3 Matters Most:
These early years are the most critical in a child’s reading development. According to the National Research Council, if a child isn’t reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade, their chances of academic success drop dramatically. In fact, students who don’t master reading by 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school. That’s why it’s so important to get books in their hands now—reading is the foundation for everything that follows.
We’re encouraging summer reading to help kids retain what they’ve learned during the school year and continue growing their literacy skills.
All donated books will go directly to incredible local organizations like A Kid’s Place, The Shelter, LawCo Kids, and more — making sure they reach children who need them the most.
