TORNADO RESPONSE

Monday morning at 12:34am units began responding to calls of storm damage including trees on fire from power lines down, reported structural collapses, and trees blocking multiple roadways including Hampshire Pike, Old State Rd, South Cross Bridges, Ashwood, and many others.

Chief Periut was prepositioned at the EOC with other emergency officials in case of a significant weather event. Division 30 (Chief Craft) was the designated area commander for western Maury County and he quickly established an area command to coordinate resources responding into the area.

Luckily only minor injuries were reported from the tornadoes. Members worked for approximately 3 hours checking for damaged homes and clearing trees from the roadway.

Responding units: Engines 21, 22, 25, Rescue 21, District 25, Division 30, Deputy 20. Squad 32 and Engine 26 moved up and handled regular calls while units operated in the tornado damaged area.

HAMPSHIRE - EF2 - 5.1 miles long and 400 YDS Wide

COLUMBIA - EF1 - 4.1 miles long and 300 YDS Wide
