Lawrence County, Tennessee Government

Progress continues at Lawrence County’s first solid waste convenience center, off Busby Road near the Loretto Wastewater Treatment Facility.

The two-acre site was donated to the county by the City of Loretto. Lawrence County also received a $187,000 grant from the state Department of Environment & Conservation to assist with construction.

The center will be manned and open on a part-time schedule of morning and evening hours to accommodate residents’ schedules.

It will accept household garbage, recyclables, and larger items such as furniture and mattresses, but not tires.

The larger building on the site will offer two drive-through lanes where most recyclables and household garbage can be dropped off. The small building will accept used oil and batteries. More specific areas will be designated for other materials.
