The bodies of a father and son who were found in the Tennessee River on Wednesday have been identified.

According to Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems a child’s body was found in the Tennessee River around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at a gravel site near the river off Highway 412 and after authorities arrived on the scene a man's body was then found at 12:30 p.m.

Officials reported that the scene where the bodies were found is a popular area to fish even though fishing is not allowed and no trespassing signs are posted.

The man was identified as 31 year old Michael Ryan Tucker, while the child was identified as his son 4 year old Michael Allen Tucker.

It is believed that the Father and son went fishing sometime Tuesday evening and fell into the water where both were found without life jackets.

This case is currently an ongoing investigation with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation working alongside the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.
