Lawrence County responders join family in celebrating toddlers recovery after near drowning accident.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN – Today, first responders and the family of a two-year-old boy gathered at the Jason Dickey Memorial Fire Training Center for an emotional reunion following a near-drowning incident that occurred last month. The reunion celebrated the incredible teamwork that led to the child’s full recovery.

On February 9th, two year old Grant was with his family at a Lawrence County residence when family members suddenly realized he was missing. After a frantic search, Grant was found unresponsive and not breathing in a nearby swimming pool. His family immediately called 911 and began CPR, setting into motion a rapid emergency response that ultimately saved his life.

Lawrence County E-911 dispatchers quickly dispatched emergency personnel. Lawrence County, TN Sheriff's Office, Lawrence County Fire & Rescue, New Prospect Fire Department, Lawrenceburg Lawrence County Emergency Management, and Lawrence County EMS responded to the scene to provide critical emergency medical care.

After assessing Grant’s condition, emergency crews determined that he needed transport to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Thanks to the swift actions of his family, first responders, and hospital staff, Grant has fully recovered and is now a happy, healthy, and growing little boy.

During today’s reunion, Grant, his family, and the emergency responders who played a role in his rescue came together to celebrate this incredible outcome.

Grant was presented with toys representing the various emergency response agencies that assisted him in February. His family expressed their deep gratitude to the responders, emphasizing the critical importance of their work in saving lives every day.

They encouraged first responders to remember that the jobs they do have a true purpose and that they are each a blessing from God. To close, the family offered a heartfelt prayer over emergency personnel, thanking God for their lifesaving efforts and asking for protection and strength for each responder as they continue serving the community.
