Witnesses Nearly Struck By Four Wheeler Thief
Witnesses reported to law enforcement officials that they narrowly escaped being struck by a man who had apparently stolen a four wheeler late last week.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were dispatched around 6:00 p.m. Friday to investigate the theft at a home on Chance Road in Leoma.
The victim reported that while he was at work between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. his green 2003 Polaris Sportsman four wheeler had been stolen from his yard.
Hunters near the victim’s property reported that they had seen a white male dressed in blue jeans and a brown hoodie driving the ATV, and that he “almost ran over them” near the Chance/Ramah Road intersection.
Other witnesses told deputies that they had noticed a man driving the ATV down a hill behind their Flatt Lane home. They said that the driver headed toward Union Hill Road.
Investigation in the crime is on-going at the current time. The ATV has an estimated value of $5,000.
