Lauderdale County Man is Arrested with 11 Charges Following an Attempted Traffic Stop

While on patrol Wednesday morning, Deputy Adam Meeks of Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office tried to make a routine traffic stop on a car driven

by William Larry Irons at the intersection of County Road 14 and 81 in Lauderdale County. Irons did not comply with the order to stop and instead led deputies on a chase lasting 20 minutes, during which he departed from County Road 186 and entered a wooded region.

After going off-road, Irons put his vehicle in reverse and crashed into the deputy’s patrol car.

Irons was apprehended following a brief foot chase and the use of a taser. The vehicle contained a firearm and narcotics. Irons received 11 different charges including; Trafficking (Meth), Felony Eluding,

Assault 2nd, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance 2x, Criminal Mischief 1st, Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Persons Forbidden to Possess Firearm, Running Stop Sign, Expired Tag, and FTA Warrant. His bond was $63,200.
