Investigation Initiated Into Leoma Burglary
Law enforcement officials initiated an investigation Thursday after a caretaker reported that a Leoma home had been burglarized.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were called to a home on Purcell Lane at around 12:40 p.m. The complainant reported that he serves as caretaker and that the owner resides in Florida.
Reports show that the culprit had pried open a garage door, bending it upward in order gain entry. He then pried open an exterior door that led into the residence damaging both the door and frame.
The caretaker reported that a television was missing, but was uncertain about other items that might have been stolen. The owner indicated he would conduct a thorough inventory to determine whether other items had been stolen.
The television had an estimated value of $2,200 and damages were assessed at $1,800.
