Robertson County, TN sheriff states that his Agriculture Crimes Unit arrested 44-year-old Ricky Shearon Winn for allegedly stealing valuable Black Walnut timber from at least two farms.

Detective received a report that Black Walnut
timber has been stolen from a farm along the Red River as well as a second farm in the area had been hit by the suspect.

Detectives determined Winn cut the
trees down then pulled them to the Red River with a wench then proceeded to float the trees
down the Red River at night to the TWRA boat ramp in Adams, TN.

Once at the boat ramp the trees were loaded onto a
trailer and transported to Clarksville, TN where they were sold to a lumber dealer.

Black walnut wood is quite valuable and is often considered one of the most valuable domestic hardwoods in North America where a mature stand of black walnut trees can be worth around $100,000 per acre in timber value.
