Child Airlifted After Being Struck By Vehicle
A child sustained serious injury Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle near her Ethridge home.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol report that the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 43 North in the vicinity of Alexander Springs Road.
Driver James Warren, age 45, was reportedly traveling northbound in a 1999 Nissan Sentra when an eleven-year-old girl entered the highway from the east and was struck.
Witnesses reported that the child has special needs and had been attempting to retrieve a ball that had rolled into the road.
The child was transported by AirEvac to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Warren was issued a citation for driving on a revoked license. Investigation in the case is currently on-going.
