Council Votes To Retain Services Of Nelson Beyond Retirement
Members of the Lawrenceburg City Council have voted to retain the services of Codes Inspector Ken Nelson beyond his retirement mid-year.
Nelson will officially retire from the post in July. During a meeting of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Commissioners Thursday morning, city leaders voted to approve a resolution that will allow them to retain Nelson’s services after that point on a part-time basis.
Under the contract approved by the council, Nelson will continue to offer his services on a part-time basis, up to 800 hours per year. City Administrator William McLain explained to members of the council that this will result in a savings to the city of approximately $100,000 over a three-year-period. McLain indicated that, even with Nelson working only part-time, this should allow for the job responsibilities to be covered.
