Dog Poisoning Investigated In Summertown Neighborhood
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Monday indicate that an investigation was initiated into a dog poisoning case that occurred in a Summertown neighborhood.
Deputies were dispatched to a home on Barry Lane around 2:30 p.m. where they spoke with two concerned residents. The male resident reported he had returned home to find a black dog, wearing a harness, stumbling around the front yard of his residence.
The dog, he said, had foam coming from his mouth. When he pointed the incident out to his wife, she was able to identify a female neighbor to whom the dog belonged.
While he was taking a report on the incident, the deputy reports that the dog was lying in a ditch, his breathing labored.
Reports show that the deputy attempted to make contact with the owner at her Galley Drive home, but was unable to do so. As he began to leave, he indicates a male relative arrived. The deputy explained the situation and the relative then went to retrieve the animal.
