The Limestone County Sheriff's Office says two people have been arrested Thursday after they barricaded themselves in a home in Elkmont.
The sheriff's office says it happened 4:30 p.m. at a home on North Wales Road.
According to deputies, they tried to serve four warrants on Charles Curtis Maddox, 45, and Chelsea Grace Murphy, 30, both of Elkmont. Instead of complying, deputies say the pair barricaded themselves in the home while armed with a shotgun.
A SWAT team and negotiators responded to the scene. Following a short standoff, Maddox surrendered and Murphy followed soon after. Both were taken into custody without further incident.
Maddox and Murphy were booked into the Limestone County Jail. Each faces two counts of chemical endangerment of a child.
The sheriff's office says there is currently no threat to the community at this time.
“I want to thank our Sheriff’s Office team, who exemplified great teamwork in handling this potentially dangerous situation," said Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin. "I also appreciate the patience and support of our community as we processed the scene.”
