On March 1,2026 Lawrence County Fire Rescue units responded to multiple calls for service including two structure fires and a grass/brush fire.

The first structure fire was reported just after 5:00 PM. LCFR units were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the Iron City Fire District. First responding units arrived to find a 1-1.5 acre field on fire as well as a large barn on fire. Units from Iron City and Westpoint responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. The fire is believed to be the result of an unattended garbage burn pile.

Just before 7 PM LCFR units were dispatched to a second reported structure fire. Original dispatch remarks indicated a reported residential structure fire in the Crossroads Fire District. At the time of dispatch we were advised that one occupant was trying to exit the home. First arriving units found an approximately 4,000 square foot home with smoke visible from the exterior. The occupant of the home had safely exited the home through a window.
