MCSO: 4-year-old boy dead after dog attack

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says a 4-year-old boy has died after he was bitten by a dog near Oak Ridge on Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies, fire and EMS responded to a medical emergency on Ramblewood Private Drive off Vaughn Bridge Road, about five miles west of Hartselle, around 6 p.m.

Authorities said the boy, later identified as Beau Clark, was in critical condition after being attacked by an Olde English Bulldog.

Clark was taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies with MCSO say the father attempted to rescue the child from the dog and was severely hurt, but he has been released from the hospital and is recovering.

The sheriff’s office said the dog was first reported to be a pit bull at the scene, but later clarified it is actually an Olde English Bulldog. The dog had to be put down at the scene.
