Subject: Structure Fire

Shortly after 3:00AM Lawrence County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the Iron City Fire District. First arriving units found a 30x30 building to be on fire.

Units from the Iron City and West Point stations were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but firefighters can not eliminate a burn pile in very close proximity to the building as the cause of the fire.

The burn pile contained materials including a mattress that are illegal to burn. The property owners did not have a permit on file for any of the materials being burned.
