Clay Doggett is Appointed to the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission

House Speaker Cameron Sexton, Republican of Crossville, appointed State Representative Clay Doggett, Republican of Pulaski, on January 24th to the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST), Tennessee’s main law enforcement regulatory agency.

All local police personnel in Tennessee are subject to training and standards developed and enforced by the Commission. Additionally, it certifies instructors, specialized schools, and curriculum and encourages ongoing law enforcement training. Doggett, the chair of the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee and a former law enforcement official, will be in office for two years, ending on November 4th, 2026.

He completed Class 1523 at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLEAT). “I’m incredibly honored to be selected to serve on the POST Commission and I thank Speaker Sexton for his confidence in me,” Doggett said.

“Working in law enforcement comes with extremely high stakes, and upholding proper standards and quality training is necessary for these men and women to safely do their jobs. I’m committed to ensuring all police officers in the Volunteer State have the tools, experience, and support required to serve the public well.”
