Relentless rain, and flooding resulted in a landslide that damaged two homes as well as causing a road to collapse in Hardin County.

According to the Hardin County Fire Department, and Steve Cromwell Highway Superintendent heavy rains, flooding, as well as erosion caused a landslide that continued to move causing the road to collapse as well.

Several homes were destroyed over the weekend when a landslide occured on Glendale Road that also took a camper, and a Jeep with it about 100 feet below into the Tennessee River.

On Monday as the landslide continued to move Glendale Road began collapsing where Steve Cromwell spoke on the situation by saying, “The road is continuing to sink, and we don't know where the stopping point is going to be right now. The road is destroyed in that area."

Due to the severe damage to the road Cromwell also explained that the road may just become part of the river bank, and “We’re going to look at moving the road over in another location, further away from the slide so it won’t happen again."

Authorities are advising everyone to please avoid the area as the road is closed, and not safe for anyone to even be walking around on.
