Subject: Fire Alarm Activation
Lawrence County Fire Rescue units responded to a Fire Alarm Activation in the Crossroads Fire District.
First arriving units reported smoke in the Church Sanctuary. An engine company made a connection to the sprinkler system while other personnel worked to locate the source of the smoke.
Using thermal imaging technology our personnel were able to identify a malfunctioning fan motor in an HVAC unit as the source of the heat/smoke. The unit was de-energized in order to prevent further damage. Our personnel utilized high output electric fans to ventilate the smoke from the 10,000 square foot portion of the facility before returning to service.
This incident is another example of fire alarm systems and automatic fire sprinkler systems saving property from extensive fire damage. These type systems have also proven to save lives.
Our volunteers have also responded to a residential structure fire, a motor vehicle crash, and a high priority medical call today
