Interstate 40 has been shutdown early Wednesday morning following a fiery crash.

 

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol the accident occurred Wednesday morning around 6:48 a.m. on Interstate 40 near mile marker 93 where multiple vehicles including atleast 2 tractor trailer trucks were involved in the accident.

The THP has stated that currently it is unclear how many people were involved in the accident, but that one of the tractor trailers was engulfed in flames due to the wreck.

Around 7:00 a.m. several ambulances arrived on the scene where injuries have been reported involving the accident.

As a result both westbound lanes of I-40 are shut down near mile marker 93 where crews worked to extinguish the tractor trailer fire that was put out shortly after 9:00 a.m. along with units working to clear the charred debris from the roadway.

Authorities have stated that the Interstate is expected to be cleared sometime around 11:30, but that anyone traveling in the area to plan for delays.
