Qualifying Deadline For May County Primary Is Approaching
The qualifying deadline for the upcoming County Primary election is fast approaching leaving potential candidates with just over a week to turn in the required paperwork.
The deadline to qualify for the May 6 County Primary is noon on Thursday, February 20.
The primary will allow residents to select both Democrat and Republican candidates to advance to the County General Election in August.
Most elected county positions will appear on the ballot. That includes County Executive, Sheriff, Trustee, County Court Clerk, Circuit Court Clerk, Road Superintendent, Register of Deeds, and District Attorney General.
Names of candidates seeking election to the Lawrence County Commission or school board will appear only on the August ballot, as will candidates vying for the county’s three constable posts.
