Lawrence County High School DECA Victories
Recently fourteen DECA students attended the District 4 competition in Murfreesboro. Participating students included:
Hannah Campbell (Restaurant & Food Service Management)
Maggie Fincher (Marketing Management)
Hanna McGee (Accounting Applications)
Ethan Perry (Sports & Entertainment Marketing)
Sarah Smith (Quick Serve Restaurant Management)
Jacqueline Stanfill (Apparel & Accessories)
Jason Story (Principles of Marketing)
Shavangi Sutaria (Hotel & Lodging Management)
Kate Morris & Shea Morris (Team Event - Sports & Entertainment Marketing)
Abby Johnson & Caroline Prince (Team Event - Travel & Tourism)
Lee Ann Smith & Rachel Smith (Team Event - Business Law & Ethics)
Seven students were declared "overall winners" in their categories and will be advancing to state competition: Hannah Campbell, Maggie Fincher, Hanna McGee, Ethan Perry, Sarah Smith, Jacqueline Stanfill, and Shavangi Sutaria!
Students competed in several events, including a written test and either one or two problem-solving judged scenarios. The following students won one or more events for their categories:
Hannah Campbell - 3rd place Marketing knowledge exam, 2nd place problem-solving
Maggie Fincher - 3rd place Marketing knowledge exam, 1st place problem-solving, 2nd place problem solving
Hanna McGee - 3rd place problem-solving
Ethan Perry - 2nd place problem-solving
Lee Ann Smith - 2nd place Marketing knowledge exam
Sarah Smith - 2nd place Marketing knowledge exam, 2nd place problem-solving
Jacqueline Stanfill - 3rd place problem-solving
Shavangi Sutaria - 2nd place Marketing knowledge exam
The following students were runners up in their categories:
Kate Morris & Shea Morris - 1st runner up in team event
Abby Johnson & Caroline Prince - 2nd runner up in team event
Lee Ann Smith & Rachel Smith - 2nd runner up in team event
Additionally, Sarah Smith completed a state officer exam at competition and scored high enough to be allowed to advance to state competition as a state officer candidate. She will be campaigning to become Vice President.
