Lawrence County Crews Assist Neighboring Counties in Ice Storm Recovery

LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN – Lawrence County agencies are continuing to support regional recovery efforts following last week’s ice storm, providing personnel, equipment, and expertise to neighboring counties while maintaining readiness at home.
On Monday morning, February 2, 2026, Lawrenceburg Utility System (LUS) deployed 13 linemen along with support equipment to Hardin County after completing restoration work in Wayne County late last week. LUS crews arrived in Savannah at approximately 6:30 a.m. and are expected to remain on assignment through Friday assisting with power restoration efforts. LUS officials emphasized that sufficient resources remain in Lawrence County to respond to any power or utility issues that may arise locally during the ongoing cold weather event.
In addition to utility support, Lawrenceburg/Lawrence County EMA Director Shelton Barnett was deployed to Hickman County on Friday, January 30, 2026, to assist with communications recovery efforts following storm-related infrastructure impacts. Other Lawrenceburg and Lawrence County agencies including Lawrenceburg Sanitation are also contributing to recovery operations with debris removal assistance in neighboring counties affected by the ice storm.
“These efforts reflect the strong mutual aid partnerships that exist across Middle Tennessee,” said EMA officials. “Lawrence County is proud to assist our neighbors while continuing to protect and serve our own residents.”
Lawrence County EMA will continue to monitor weather conditions and recovery operations and will provide updates as needed.
