Burglars Leave Extensive Damage Inside Local Business
Burglars left extensive damages inside a Lawrenceburg business last week, making off with only a couple of items.
The crime occurred around midnight at Performance Feeds, 122 Fourth Street. Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to the address after a burglar alarm was activated, detecting motion inside.
Officers arrived to find that the front door had been struck five times with a blunt object, shattering the glass, but not knocking it from the frame, and that an adjacent plate glass window had been broken. During the investigation officers found a hammer head believed to have been used to break the glass.
Culprits apparently gained entry to the business by prying open a rollup door on the west side of the structure. Inside, the perpetrators smashed glass from several doors to gain access to various areas.
Windows were busted on trucks inside and two GPS devices stolen. Bolt cutters were taken then used to cut padlocks on a south side gate.
Officers reported that it did not appear that the culprits gained access to the office area. Damages were estimated to total in excess of $2,000.
Owners reported that the business is equipped with a video surveillance system. They said they would contact the security company to obtain a copy of the video.
