10 years in EMS
I had no idea what all it would hold. Over the last decade, EMS has given me some of the hardest days, some heart-breaking moments, a whole lot of learning experiences, and more laughs and memories than I could ever count.
I’ve seen life at its very beginning and at its very end. I’ve held hands during fear, grief, and uncertainty. I’ve learned lessons you can’t find in a textbook—about people, about patience, about humility, and about myself.
There were times I questioned if I could keep going. Times the weight of it all felt heavy. But there were also moments that reminded me exactly why I chose this path—the thank-yous, the hugs, the calls that went right, the crews that became family, and the feeling of knowing you showed up when someone needed you most.
I started this journey as an EMT, worked my way to Advanced EMT, and today I’m proud to serve as a Paramedic, FTO, and Medical Death Investigator. None of it happened overnight, and none of it happened alone.
To every partner, coworker, mentor, friend, and family member who supported me through the long nights, hard calls, and tough decisions—thank you. And to anyone chasing a dream in EMS or any career: don’t stop. Stay humble, keep learning, and remember why you started.
Here’s to 10 years in EMS—and to the next
decade
