Successful Search and Rescue Operation in Giles County
At approximately 7:00 PM on January 24, 2025, Giles County E-911 received a call reporting a missing person on Marvin Hughes Road. Units from the Giles County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD) responded and requested assistance from the Giles County Office of Emergency Management (OEM). OEM deployed its Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) equipped with thermal imaging to conduct a hasty search of the area.
To enhance the search effort, OEM requested additional support from a K-9 unit provided by Maury Regional Hospital and a volunteer K-9 team from Giles OEM. Due to the challenging terrain and the safety of first responders, the search was suspended until daylight hours.
This morning, search operations resumed with additional resources, including:
• Giles County EMS
• Giles County Fire and Rescue
• Giles County Sheriff’s Department
• Maury County OEM
• City of Lawrenceburg Fire Department UAS Team
• Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) Middle District Coordinator
• Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Aviation Unit
• Giles County Rehab Unit
Additionally, a special thank you to Oak Grove Baptist Church who graciously opened their facility to provide a warm space for volunteers to rest and regroup.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of all involved agencies, Mrs.Toone was located alive and transported by Giles County EMS to a local hospital for evaluation.
Giles OEM extends its heartfelt gratitude to all agencies and personnel who contributed to this successful operation. The ability of multiple agencies to work seamlessly together highlights the strength of our community and our commitment to protecting lives.
