Owner Finds Stolen Car Wrecked And Abandoned
A Summertown man who reported a vehicle stolen last week later notified authorities that he had found it wrecked and abandoned.
The victim reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that a 1993 Chevrolet Geo, used as a shop vehicle, had been taken from beside his shop on Dukes Park Road. He said that it was taken sometime after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The same day the owner contacted the reporting officer, indicating that he had located his vehicle. He summoned the deputy to a wooded lot on Dukes Park Road.
They found that the vehicle had sustained extensive damage. In addition, the culprit had left some canned food and a bag of chips in the back of the car.
Damages were estimated to total $500. Investigation into the crime is continuing at the current time.
