Lawrence County Fire Rescue members along with Lawrenceburg Fire and Lawrence County EMA have been working through the night pumping water into the LUS water filtration plant to help recharge the water system to its normal capacity so that water service is not interrupted during peak times.

The winter storm that we just experienced along with the heavy rains has washed lots of leaves and other debris in front of the strainers at the water intake point. The debris restricts the water flow into the pumps and requires the pumps to be turned on and off in order to clear the strainer grates.

Our pumper is being used to draft water near the intake site. Our pump is then flowing the water into the filtration plant. We are able to supplement upwards of 1500 gallons of water per minute.

There is no emergency. We are simply assisting in with water supply to avoid any kind of interruption in water service during peak usage times."
