Pair Arrested In Cattle Rustling Thefts

A Loretto man was arrested last week in Giles County after law enforcement officers were asked to investigate instances of cattle rustling.
Joshua Alton Atchley, 32, of Loretto and Timothy Dewayne Cline, 27, of Minor Hill were booked through the Giles County Jail on the cattle theft charges. At that time officials were seeking the whereabouts of a third suspect.
The arrests were made in the wake of an investigation initiated two weeks prior, after two cows were stolen from a Henry Gore Road farm in Minor Hill. Similar crimes were reported in other areas of Giles as well as Lawrence County.
Giles County Sheriff’s Department officials indicate that Atchley and Cline were jailed in lieu of a $3,500 bond apiece. Cline was additionally being held in connection with an unrelated violation of probation charge.
At the present time detectives are continuing investigation into the incidents.
