Woman Arrested For Stealing, Attempting To Cash Check
Law enforcement officials obtained warrants last weekend after a resident reported a check had been stolen from his mail.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were dispatched to speak with the victim at his Leoma home on Saturday.
The victim reported that he had been expecting a check that had been mailed to him from an auction company, but never received it.
He said that he had received notification through the issuer that the check had been stolen and an attempt made to cash it. The individual who had made the attempt was identified as thirty-two year old Mary Angela Lewis.
As a result of the investigation warrants were obtained against Lewis, charging her with the crime of theft.
