Falcons Squeak Out A Win Against Wildcats

It is the heart of the schedule for LCHS and the Wildcats kicked off district play at home against Lincoln County. With both teams coming off disappointing holiday tournaments, it was a fight to come out the victor.
Lincoln County came out the aggressors, racking up fouls and points, using sharp passing to build a 14-11 lead at the end of one.
Lawrence County turned to #42 Heath Mansfield and #52 Kade Skinner in the second, going at the interior of the Lincoln County defense and racking up 19 first half points between them.
At the half, the Falcons had increased their lead, going to the locker room up 39-31.
Lawrence County used the three point shot in the second half to get themselves back into it, going on a run in the third to cut the lead to two, heading into the fourth down 49-47.
The fourth quarter belonged to Lincoln County however, as their aggressiveness was rewarded with favorable calls. At the final horn, Lincoln County had squeaked out a 69-64 victory to improve to 2-0 in district play and 8-5 overall.
LCHS was led by #42 Mansfield with 21 and #33 Peyton Sockwell who made 5 three point shots to add his 18 points.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-1 in district play and 9-7 for the season. They will take their act on the road to face the Columbia Central Lions on January 8th. Lincoln County will travel to Franklin County, looking to stay perfect in district play.
