For Immediate Release:
Subject: 2024 Call Volume

In 2024 Lawrence County Fire Rescue celebrated our 30 year anniversary as an organization. Since the organizations establishment in 1994 trained volunteers have provided fire and rescue services to the citizens of Lawrence County as well as those who travel through the County. Our personnel cover 13 districts with 15 stations. All stations provide Fire and Rescue Services that include specialized services such as High and Low Angle Technical Rescue, Water Rescue, High and Low Angle Technical Rescue, Confined Space, Grain Bin Rescue, and Land & Water Search & Rescue Services. Seven of our Districts also respond on High Priority Medical Calls with Licensed EMS Personnel to assist EMS and provide life saving care until EMS Transport units can arrive on scene. This year we also deployed teams to areas of Tennessee and North Carolina following the devastating flooding from Hurricane Helene. Our equipment and personnel deployed with Lawrenceburg Fire, Columbia Fire, Maury County Fire, and Loretto Fire Department part of a Strike Team formed by the Tennessee Fire Mutual Aid System.

According to records from the Lawrence County Emergency Communications Center our stations initiated 2,729 responses to calls for service in 2024. It is important to remember that each of these responses likely started with an emergency call to Lawrence County E-911, and many of these calls likely involved our personnel working along side our mutual aid partners from Lawrenceburg, Loretto, and Saint Joseph Fire Departments as well as Lawrence County Emergency Management,Lawrence County EMS, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and other local law enforcement agencies. On several occasions this year we both provided and received assistance with calls from Giles, Maury, and Wayne County Fire Departments.

The most important piece of our organization is our members. It’s amazing to think that 2,729 times in 2024 our volunteers dropped what they were doing and responded to an emergency call. On top of call responses our personnel also trained, fundraiser, and participated in public safety, and fire prevention activities.

We look forward to a safe and progressive year in 2025!
