Husband And Girlfriend Abandon Wife On Roadside

A local woman was assisted by law enforcement officers on Wednesday after she was allegedly assaulted and left on the roadside by her husband and his girlfriend.

The victim, age 35, reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that her husband had been having an affair with a woman while she was present inside their West Point home. She said that she informed him she wished to return to Missouri to live with her father and that they began to argue.

The victim reported that they got into the car to drive to Missouri with the girlfriend driving while she, her husband, and their fifteen year old son rode in the back seat. She said that as they drove she and her husband began to argue. She told them to stop the car so that she could get out, and she said they did so.

The victim told deputies that as she exited the car her husband kicked her from behind. She said that he also punched her in the chest and bent her wrist back, producing bruises. She said they then drove away and left her there.

Warrants were signed against her husband, thirty-eight year old Tony Lynn Lanier, charging him with domestic assault and domestic vandalism. At the time reports were filed the warrants had not yet been served.
