Bid For Repaving Project Rejected

Lawrenceburg leaders have opted to reject a bid submitted for a planned repaving project, saying that the bid was too high.

City Administrator Chris Shaffer explained the matter during a meeting of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council Thursday morning.

He told council members that only one bid had been received after the city advertised the project, which includes resurfacing along John’s Alley. Shaffer said that the total bid submitted was higher than leaders had anticipated spending.

Street Department Superintendent Jerry Smith explained that, because of the department’s heavy workload, bids had been let on the project in order to speed up the process.

Because the bid was too high, Smith said that the work will be done in-house. He said that members of his department will repave the roadway in the spring.
