Lentz Road Fire Under Investigation

An investigation was initiated Wednesday after a citizen reported that a house trailer in the Summertown area had burned to the ground, apparently without anyone noticing.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 46 Lentz Road property around 9:30 a.m. Summertown Fire Chief Gary Stewart reported that the home was a complete loss. He told deputies that no one had reported the fire.

Lawrenceburg Power System employees responded to disconnect electrical service. Authorities are working to determine whether the fire was the result of an electrical problem or an instance of arson.

Deputies spoke with neighbors, however they reported that they had not heard anything unusual. One neighbor said that the trailer had been en tact on Tuesday. He said that he noticed that the home had burned after he arose around 5:00 Wednesday morning.

Deputies contacted the owner, who lives in Columbia. He reported that another Columbia resident was in the process of purchasing the home through a lease-to-own agreement. He said that the home had been under renovation at the time the fire occurred.

Loss in the case was estimated to be $10,000.
