Martin Methodist Lockdown Monday Results In Arrest Of Lawrenceburg Man

A Lawrence County man was arrested after threats were issued to a student at Martin Methodist College Monday morning, resulting in a campus-wide lockdown.

Pulaski officials report that the lockdown occurred around 9:00 a.m. after James Robert Burdick, age 24, issued the threats to his wife, who is a student at the college.

They report that Burdick had spoken to his wife by phone, stating that he had a firearm and was, “going to shoot up the place.”

The lockdown was in place for around one hour. Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department apprehended Burdick and he was released into the custody of officers with the Pulaski Police Department around 11:00 a.m.

Burdick was incarcerated at the Giles County Detention Center on charges of harassment. Authorities indicate that additional charges may be forthcoming.

Burdick was later released from the facility under a bond of $1,000. He was scheduled an initial appearance in Giles County General Sessions Court on December 3, 2013.
