Reckless Driver Charged With DUI

A driver accused of running several vehicles off of a roadway was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant Saturday.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the vicinity of Fall River Market on Fall River Road at around 8:30 p.m. where drivers reported encountering the erratic driver.

While en route, a deputy reports locating a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. He reports he passed the vehicle near E.O. Coffman Middle School where he turned to pursue the driver.

The deputy reports that the driver was driving erratically, failing to maintain a lane of travel. After conducting a traffic stop the deputy determined that the driver, seventy-three year old Edgar Dean Fox was under the influence of an intoxicant. He reports that Fox failed to perform satisfactorily on field sobriety tests.

Once Fox was placed under arrest deputies report finding pill bottles inside his truck that contained Carisaprodol and Oxycodone pills.

Fox was transported for a blood draw at Crockett Hospital, then for incarceration at the Lawrence County Detention Center. He was booked under charges that include driving under the influence, possession of Schedule II narcotics, and possession of Schedule IV narcotics.
