South Lawrence Economic Development Association Has Been Established

Comprised of local business leaders, government officials and concerned citizens, the South Lawrence Economic Development Association has been established to push for economic advancement and progressive action in the south end of Lawrence County.

The Association, a non-profit organization, plans to work in concert with existing entities, local businesses and government officials to address important issues such as economic development, the quality of education, infrastructure and community enhancement in Loretto, St. Joseph, Leoma, Five Points, Iron City and all other communities in the south end of the county.

At the November 14th meeting of the Association, charter officers and board members were elected. The group elected Harley Simbeck, Sr. as President, Rodney Robinson Vice President, Chris D. Jackson Secretary/Public Information Officer and Steve Kress as Treasurer.

Board members elected include Bill Moore, Jesse Turner, Joe Green, Jason Neese, Chris Beckman, Steve McMasters and Ken Abercrombie.

The group also established several committees to work on key issues. Chief among those, the group formed an Industrial Recruitment Committee which will be spearheaded by Former State Representative Calvin Moore, Ken Abercrombie and Bill Ezell.

The group will meet again on November 26th at 6:30 AM at Loretto City Hall and will have monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 AM at City Hall.
