Authorities Investigate Theft Of Funds From Paycard
A local man sought police assistance Friday after he discovered funds had been stolen from his employer-issued paycard.
The victim, age 33, reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that he had discovered the theft around 1:30 Friday afternoon. He said that his employer had mailed the Visa Paycard to him to access his pay account.
He said that he had contacted the Visa company to find out why he had not received the card and was informed that it had been mailed to his former address on Valley Road.
The victim discovered that $233 had been removed from his account. He told deputies that he believes his ex-girlfriend may have received the card and accessed his account. He said that she knew his social security number and that she could have used that knowledge to gain access.
Investigation into the matter is currently on-going.
