Resident Reports Seeing Suspicious Vehicle During Burglary Of Her Home

A resident of Summertown reported to authorities Monday that she had noticed a suspicious vehicle parked nearby at the time her home was being burglarized.

The victim requested that deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department respond to her Old Highway 43 home. She said she had left her house at around 5:30 p.m. to visit with a relative a short distance away.

She said that around 8:00 p.m. while she was sitting on the relative’s porch, she noticed a vehicle parked in the driveway between her house and the one adjacent. She told deputies that when the interior light came on she was able to tell that the driver was wearing a red shirt.

She was also able to provide a detailed description of the vehicle. Once she spotted them, she said the occupants drove away, heading north.

The victim reported that she went home straightaway. She discovered that her laptop computer, valued at $550, had been stolen from her kitchen.

She told deputies that nothing else appeared to missing or disturbed. She said that the burglar likely entered through an unlocked back door.
